Is bell's defense solid or overrated?

Question

i like watching him play because of his exciting threes and play, but is he really forreal in the defensive end, i mean kobe scores 30-50 points against him everytime, and other star players too. so whats your take on his defense?break down his style of defense for me.

Well I definetly don't think he is overrated because he isn't even really talked about ya know. He is a good defender and sometimes great but not the best or one of the best at all!! I personally think he does a great job on the star players. I mean the Suns beat the Lakers two playoffs in a row (With Kobe, Fisher, Odom, and others) and we all no the Suns NO DEFENSE, stopping Kobe was all Raja the rest of the Suns did nothin. Kobe could have took them over single handedly if he wanted but either he just didn't care or Raja played exellent defense. Raja is the best Defender on the Suns (thats not sayin much) but he does his best and its really good.

Star players score a lot on him because most teams double team star players but the Suns have no one else that plays defense so he takes them on pretty much one on one so he is doin a great job!!!

i think Raja Bell is a pretty solid defender.  

In some ways he's under-rated because the Suns are not a great defensive team and teams expose them by running the pick and roll against Steve Nash (who is not a good defender) and Amare and Shaq are both kind of lazy and slow when it comes to moving their feet.  So Bell often gets credit as being a "defensive stopper" because he's one of the few guys on their team that is better defensively than offensively.  i don't think of him as an elite stopper like an:  Artest, Prince, Battier or Bowen.  But i think he's a pretty solid defender.
