Question:

Is ben cousins a hero?

everybody seems to defending him. hearing things like - poor ben, the police got carried away, eagles jumped the gun etc.

WHAT??? surely this isnt helping his cause. why is he still associating with the wrong sort of people after he said he was "clean".

im not saying he should be hung but the smugness coming from the man does not fit a remorseful person. surely some humility and a change of association would make his cause more believable.

your thoughts?

  1. hero is not the right word for him. all the girls like ben coz hes "s**y" and all the guys like him coz hes a gun. he had a lot of young kids look up to him and hes just ruined his life and let down all his fans, hes not a hero, far from it! but really ben made a mistake and he's paying for it! personally im still a fan of ben but i dont approve of the way hes been acting lately, he got a second chance and he went and wrecked everything again! but good luck to him

  2. yes he is mine

  3. I think Ben is diffently not a loser and I think he a hypocrite and liar. He is a sleaze and I don't believe he didn't have drugs in his car. We need to send him to god knows where!

  4. He has lost peoples trust. I think we should just leave the poor guy alone and let him get better.

  5. He is an Absolute s**y s**y Guy....without he's shirt omg I was like forgetting about why he was getting arreseted... SEXYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Anyways to answer your question NO he isn't a Hero but he isnt a bad bloke. I just think he is a troubled bloke involved with drugs and the wrong crowd which is why he is hooked on drugs. Why does he still associate with the wrong people because thats the sort or people he still chooses to be. unless something real bad happens to him he isnt going to wake up and see that it isnt all just fun and fast. I belive he is a bit dissapointed that he let the west coast staff down because they put alot into him but he is more pissed that the whole problem got out of hand and revealed, again the media blows it all up. He isnt going to quit the lifestyle he chooses unless something bad happens or is taken away from him that he absolutely treasures.

  6. I don't think of Ben as a hero.

I think of him as a man that has a problem and needs help.

I sincerely hope he gets it.

  7. Nope. He made the choices that got him into this situation in the first place, no one forced him to get on the gear. I think West Coast have been selfish and stupid in the way they handled the matter by trying to rush him back early just to win a few games. If they were genuine about wanting to help him they should of kept him out of the game and the publicity that comes with playing for at least a year or two so he could focus on his rehab. Instead they sent him on a holiday to the States for a couple of weeks and then rushed him back into the side. I think it's time the AFL stepped in and took control of the situation.

  8. The word hero is flung around all over the place. I for one don't really know where exactly it fits.

In society , most people feel some sort of sadness when a talented person has lost their way, regardless of whether the "hero" is making a lot of money, or having adoring fans tripping over them for

    autographs.

What Ben Cousins has experienced by being a cult hero, is a plastic and unreal world, and not entirely his fault. The adoring fans have put him in that position, and unfortunately Ben accepted hero statis because he was baited by society, and now has to pay a hefty price.

As far as appearing smug and lacking remorse, this is something only he knows, because Ben has spent many years putting on a "game face" to the public.

In actual fact he spends all of his public life being an actor.

If Ben told the photographers to get lost, it would be in every tabloid across the nation.

The price that Ben pays, regardless of whether he plays football again, will be a loss of face, and he will take this to the grave with him. It's all part of selling the soul for fame.

  9. I have never heard anyone calling Ben a hero.

    Footy players are not heros.

Heros are Fireman,Policeman,Doctors,Soldiers and normal humans  who risk their lives to save others.

    Now thats a HERO!!!!

  10. I have said it before I will say it again he is a tool...

a great footballer but still a tool

  11. Are criminals heroes?

    I dont think so!

Do people look at the world through "rose coloured" glasses and only want to see good in the world?

    Definitely!

Would some people turn a blind eye to overwhelming misconduct and try to pretend that there isnt a problem.

Hmmm....  well even Hitler had a fan club didnt he!

I think that we need to ban those rose coloured  glasses and tell it as it is....

He chose to take illicit drugs knowing they were illegal knowing they are addictive, there is no excuse.

He is a criminal. Another felon like all the other drug addicts and dealers.

Some try to make excuses oh but he was under stress, had personal problems.. blah blah.   Well..... he wasnt short of money was he and wouldnt a trip to a counsellor/psychologist or something have been a bit more productive!

Hey everyone get the glasses off, get real, and call him for what he is... a criminal who used to be a good football player and tossed it all away because he was stupid  and irresponsible.

  12. He is a decorated talented player who has RUINED his reputation ...similar to Garry Ablett snr and Wayne Carey.

  13. No bloody way

  14. nope he's no hero, he has a problem, which needs to be sorted out, who knows he might of lost it after the other eagles player died.

  15. hes a great player turned tragedy....definitely NOT a hero.

He's a footy player - lets get things into perspective!!

  16. No but apparently Andrew Johns is so it must be all right to use drugs while playing for Australia overseas.
