  1. Im from Spain... and I would say Benidorm is suitable for NOBODY!... Its too crowded, a lot of noise, traffic... its not a spanish paradise if thats what your looking for. I would recommend you go to a small village instead, a little bit more to the south.... Thats usually where british tourists go and sometimes they retire and buy houses in this part of Spain. Talk to an agency and plan it well... i wouldnt risk it with two little kids... I love my country but I know in summer it can get a bit crazy!

    Good Luck.

  2. Benidorm is perfect for all, it also depends on the hotel you choose.

Most hotels have child entertainment as well as for us older ones. I love the place, as does my 10 year old daughter.

Your kiddies can even play on the beach at night when it is a touch cooler than the daytime & there are many crazy golf sites, which is a must for a 10 year old.

The waterpark is also a must (take your own food as it is expensive)

Go Benidorm & enjoy, I do every year.

  3. NO it is a horrible place and know as an alcoholics paradise, where people just party 24 hours a day, it is like a dirty Blackpool and not suitable for kids. Majorca is great for kids especially Santa Ponsa or Alcudia.

  4. It's fine for kids.  It has a big flat beach, nearby theme parks and water parks.  Just stay away from the Old Town at night as it's a bit boisterous for the toddler.

  5. we been to benidorm a few time with our children who are both 10..it fantastic ,plenty to do ,safe beaches ,theme parks,it all depend where you stay,we stay in the old town were there were mostly family,i would advise to go half board,we stay in the avenida hotel near the beach it was great!

  6. Yes, absolutely. This summer you'll find families of all makes and models, Spanish and otherwise. You'll find babies on the beach and in strollers on the streets, young children with their toys, teenagers wishing they were somewhere/anywhere else (i.e. with their friends), and on and on.

Hope you're not going in the summer. It's an absolute MADHOUSE with vacationers. The rest of the year it's mostly a British home-away-from-home and still perfectly fine for families. I found it quite nice in the springtime. They have probably the best city beaches in all of Spain but you don't feel like you're in Spain, that's for sure, for the high British population and signage in English, English bars, and English foods. I like English people (some of my family and best friends are English!) but you don't get much of a Spanish feel in Benidorm if that's what you're seeking.

  7. I agree with Pat R-I've been to Benidorm a number of times both in & out of season and it isn't suitable for children really-let's just say I wouldn't want my child being exposed to some of the behaviour that occurs there. There are many other places in Spain that are so much nicer, cleaner & appropriate. The place is dirty to be honest-but for some reason locals don't see that,I guess when you've travelled around a bit you see just how run down and dirty the place is but if you live there you don't.

  8. I would say no...

It tends to get lots of hen and stag parties, don't get me wrong,I love it,but there are hundreds of other resorts in Spain without going there with kids.

  9. Have a look at what these lot say about the place.

  10. This really depends on what sort of holiday you are looking for. I live on the outskirts of the hustle and bustle, and have done so for a long time. People make alot of comments about Benidorm, but in general I think you can easily avoid the Brit bars full of drunks that frequent our town in the high season. If you come any other time other than July and August you will be able to avoid the crowds and also find alot of things to do. I'm no good at adding links sorry, but here are a few things you can look for:

www.aqualandia.net - water park----great for you and the kids

www.terramiticapark.com   theme park----if you love the rides

    www.mundomar.es  marina and animal park

    www.terranatura.com - animal park

fuentes de algar - waterfalls and beautiful scenery (google it)

www.desafiomedieval.com - dinner and show with knights in armour.

Apart from the beaches we have, (blus flag) you can hire a car and get out and see loads of things close by, without ever going near a Brit bar.

However, most bars have nighttime shows, early ones are suitable for kids too, but as it gets later then the shows get more adult.

Choose a med playa hotel they are usually good for kids (thomson holidays)

You can also get the local bus to Guadalest (dont have to pay for an excursion so its a lot cheaper) mountain views superb, nice place to have lunch when too hot on the coast.

Come to Benidorm you won't be disappointed if you choose the right hotel.

If you want me to give you any more info you can email me, I'll be glad to help. Have a great time regardless of where you go for your holiday.

  11. Personally I don't think Benidorm is suitable for anyone!! Why go all the way to a beautiful country like Spain, just to be surrounded with the same things you have at home.

Children are always welcome in Spain, and whereever you go you will find something for them.

Why don't you take the opportunity to find something outside the British enclaves, and see a little bit of the real Spain.
