The University of Florida predicts bird flu will be here (in Florida) by Sept 2006. However current standards still make our food supply pretty dang safe. You can eat chicken without huge concern. Better stock up though....once the flu gets here, huge numbers of chicken flocks will be destroyed and so you can expect that cost to get passed on to us consumers.

you don get bird flu from eating chicken. even if the bird is contaminated with the virus, it still cant get to you by you eating it. any how, all bird on sale in the supermarkets are thouroughlly tested. so dont worry, it will be ok! x x x x

Yes, bird flu is still out there, but science-at-large seems to agree on a few things:

1) There is no known risk of bird flu transmission via the consumption of properly stored and cooked chicken.

2) The United states has the safest food supply in the world.

Yes. Even when Bird Flu is there you can eat chicken. There was never any problem in eating chicken. It was more of our cautious nature which caused the widespread panic.

From WHO and Centre for Disease Control, we know that chicken meat/egg subjected to even 1 second of temprature above 70 Degreed Centigrade kills the virus. Which means all types of Roast meats, Boiled, Poached fried eggs.

What you should not eat are:-

Sunny side up, half boiled eggs, raw eggs in milk.
