Is black discharge normal for the end of a period?

Usually my periods are VERY light... like crazy light, I think it has something to do with an unusual sleeping habits, mixed with eating habits, but yeah, usually they last around three days and there is very minimal bleeding. So would it be normal to have an extremely heavy period finally, and in the end have a lot of black discharge [old blood] because the blood has probably been there a while? I'm sorry if this is gross :[ I'm really sad and confused, it'd also help to answer my other question.

yes its very normal. i have a heavy period which last for about 5 days and at the end it's like a black discharge. i was told that it was okay. so again, yes its normal

you are absolutely right. It's old blood. I experienced the same thing and asked the doctor about it and thats what she said
