Is bleaching required to dye hair?

The last time I went to a haircut, they mistakenly left a lock of hair on my left side a little longer than the rest of my hair. I kinda want to dye that hair dark blue, but I don't want to go through the process of bleaching and then dye. Is bleaching the only way?

yes. you have to bleach or else....

if your natural colour is brown, it will come out dark green.

if your natural colou is blonde, it will come out light green.

if your natural colour is red, it will come out purple.

if your natural hair is black, it will probably not show at all.

If you dye it a darker color then you don't have to bleach it but if you dye it a lighter color you do

Are you talking about fudge colours? I am an expert in that stuff LOL.

I don't know how old you are, but if you go to school firstly, will they let you have it?

And also blue fudge LOVES to cling to hair longer than other fudge colours, so watch out and it will also fade to green after a bit.

But otherwise, if you want the results, the more blonde your hair is, the more the blue dye will look better on it :).

You also don't necessary have to bleach it to have it blonder, you can just lighten it with a dye not a bleach.

Yes there is a difference between a blonde dye and a blonde bleach.

You dont have to but its recommended especiallly if you have dark hair and you want to color to be noticable and dramatic.

Yeah. I dyed my hair purple and it came out ALOT better. So yeah, it's the only way.

You don't have to...but if you are going from a dark color to a light color, you should to strip the dark color so the light one holds better. And becareful...because it's not always the color you want!!

If you have dark hair and you want the blue to stand out, then you have to bleach it or it won't be noticeable. But bleached hair requires lots of care because it leaves your hair dry and brittle.

If your hair is dark then yes, you will have to bleach it.

The blue wont show up unless your hair is blonde or very light brown.
