  1. It is not very good and very overpriced.  You can do much better selecting a good reciever (like Onkyo TX-SR605 for $400 or so) and a good set of speakers - whatever your price range is.  Look into NHT Classic, Quad L-ite.

  2. no not that good compared to others in the same price range.

  3. Bose systems are outstanding and very well made. You can spend hundreds to thousands on their systems..it really depends on your budget, and what you want to do with the sysytem. I really like Bang Olufsen, one of the best made, but very expensive. Check out their website, http://www.bang-olufsen.com

  4. Bose are the joke of the audio world.  There is a reason they dont post any information on there system ratings because compared to any system they are terrible.  They only send out highs and lows have no mid range at all.  Anyone who knows audio systems and if you ask any one from a good system dealer they will tell you the same thing.  All highs and lows must be bose.

  5. I had a Bose Accoustimass system and, like any other Bose product I've listened to (old 901s and even the Wave Radio), the bass is muddy, the midrange is missing, and the treble is hissy. That system was $550 and I hated it. So, I gave it to my stepson for some computer work and a new hard drive. He likes it. But, he doesn't know any better.

I replaced that system with the Klipsch Quintet (front right, front left, center, rear right, and rear left satellites) and a Klipsch SW-12 powered subwoofer that I got used on eBay for about $500 with shipping. I also got a refurbished Yamaha 5.1 surround sound receiver (don't remember the model number, but it's 70 watts per channel) on eBay for about $150 with shipping.

This system kicks butt! I should have remembered this from when I was younger, but you just can't beat Klipsch for the price.

My advice is to go listen to all different kinds of speaker systems and see which ones you like best for what you're willing to spend. I was at a winery once and asked the vintner what is the best wine I could buy. He said, "Whatever you like the best."

It's the same thing with speakers. If you've never listened to a particular set, don't buy them. Listen to different brands side-by-side and don't purchase anything until you're sure they're the ones you like the best.

  6. If you ask this same question in any A/V forum, you'll get torn apart because audiophiles have a unanimous hatred towards Bose.  The reason is Bose is a very expensive system with sound quality that compares to $300 setups.  You can find Klipsch and Def Tech surround speakers at your local Best Buy which will blow away any of the Bose lineup.  If your looking for nice surround for your home, stay away from Bose unless you want low end quality for high end price.  Instead look for Klipsch, Def Tech, KEF, or Onkyo* at your local best buy and circuit city.  Spend less money for far better sound quality.

  7. Bose systems are generally considered some of the best that money can buy. While expensive, the speakers and systems are small and can pack a very good punch. They also have very well set up sound and microphones that can balance the sound properly in any room.

But, they can be very, very expensive.

  8. Bose systems are the most overrated systems on the market and always have been! The sound qaulity is terrible, just because something has "crystal clear sound" doesn't mean it sounds good, it takes good high, mid and low frequency  responce compbined together along with depth of field, and imaging to create spectacular sound. As well Bose is just like anything else, they have different price ranges but I can guarutee you if you look at comparible price ranges you will always be able to find something that sounds better for the same or even a little less money, as well if you like music bose would be the absolute worse thing you could buy, and if you like bass, bose does not know what bass is, do not get trapped by the hype.  Bose has great sales people and has created a great image for themselves but to someone who truly knows what sounds good bose is chefboyrde.

  9. No and anyone that tells you otherwise doesnt know anything about audio systems. Bose is brand that is very well marketed to the masses. They sell more audio equipment than any other company in the world. Its a good brand from the majority of the population. Its inexpensive, small and comes with everything that most people need. However, compared to other systems it is the bottom of the barrell. Go to your local high-end audio/video store to really hear a good system. The best of the best are B&W, Linn, JM Labs, REL (subs),... Just think about this. The best bose system is around what $3,500? Just a pair of Linn or JM Labs speaker can be more than $50,000. Comparing Bose to ther systems around there is like comparing Honda to a Ferrari. Bose satesfies the majority of the population but for those who know better they wouldnt even take a free bose system.

  10. the best ..ull get ur moneys worth

  11. Bose system is very good, the bass is very impressive for the size of the system, if you want compact speakers, for me bose is the best, better than most of the bigger ones. Bose is also very good to decoration due to the small size. But if you want pure sound try B&W (bowers-wilkins) they are very expensive but the sound is amazing. I also like Bang Olufsen for their quality and design but they are often overpriced.

  12. It depends on what you're looking for. Bose are very good at reproducing acoustic sounds and vocals. If you want to use it as a surround sound in a smaller room they are awesome, but if you want to fill a room, or listen to music loudly stray away from Bose. Don't get me wrong, Bose ARE good speakers, but they do not have the volume and punch that something like Klipsch or Martin Logan's have. If you listen to music a lot and loud then you can definitely find something better suited to your needs, but as far as them being any good, they are, but it really depends on the situation they are in.

  13. I'm surprised to the number of people praising Bose speakers.

  14. The yamaha/klipsch quintet system for $1k from bestbuy will blow away any bose $3k system
