All the gyms ive been to are all about one thing MONEY, Boxing has become a trendy way for rich soccer moms to get in shape. Our gym had to close because the owner sold it to a clothing store to get more money and left us in the dust wondering where to go next. I truly believe boxing is on a decline because no one is training REAL fighters anymore.

  1. Most MMA gyms also teach boxing.

Boxing as a sport is stronger than ever, thanks to wanting to compete with MMA, for PPV money.

  2. never fear there ia a major recession due to kick in and one plus is we will see the return of truly hungry fighters willing to go that extra mile..this time will be more global I would think..have patience and stay in shape until then

  3. Real fighters get there based on their own prowess.  Violence and killing instict are not taught.

  4. I think so, the only boxer right now that would enthrall most people is Manny Pacquiao. If his gone, that's where boxing really dies.

  5. I agree.

I mean, you will come across some 'real' fighters every now and again.

The hungry fighter is not yet extinct, but an endangered species.

A lot of fighters nowadays can be considered lazy. It also has to do with conditioning. Most fighters in these times aren't conditioned to how they were in the golden age of boxing. Which is why they have lowered the championship rounds from 15 to 12.

Technology also plays a role in making us lazy.

But, Boxing has always been about money. So money isn't whats killing the game. If anything, money is keeping it going.

Whats killing the game is fighters who don't put on a show because they aren't in the condition to do so.

  6. LOL boxing is still the most best sport in the world people are too focused on "big name" fights. Just watch Friday Night Fights on ESPN and watever fights you get on your local sports channels and you will see plenty of great fights.

  7. I do agree that Boxing is on it's way to becoming a dying sport for a few reasons.

Such reasons would include; because the fighters these days are not as good as fighters during the time Tyson was in his prime, also, with all the modern day glamorization of the events, Boxing is not as exciting to watch anymore.

  8. Yes it is losing the glamour that once made it the sport in america. no one is marketing fighters like they use to and the heavy weight deivision that is the premier division has no fighter that the world is in love with or at least hate enough to watch.

It needs to go back to the days where it was on tv and not cable or PPV. think if the cotto-margarito fight would have been on NBC instead of PPV. that by it self would have helped the sport tremendously.

MMA is growing because it is more accesible and not so confusing as boxing.

  9. the sport of boxing is on the the decline because of mismatch title fights, rigged ratings by the WBA, WBC, and IBF, promoters like bob arum and don king manipulating the ratings of the governing bodies, and the lack of quality fighters that are dedicated to the sport of boxing, today we have fighters like oscar de la hoya, bernard hopkins, floyd mayweather, joel casamayor, manny pacquiao, joe calzaghe, ricky hatton, roy jones, jermain taylor, and kelly pavlik. cctv, ppv, and million dollar gates have also played amajor role in the sport, the 1970s and 1980s ABC, CBS, and NBC gave exposed us to fighters like muhummad ali, george foreman, joe fraizer, ken norton, bob foster, matthew saad muhummad, dwight muhummad qawi, michael spinks, carlos monzon, rodrigo valdez, marvin hagler, ray leonard, wilfred benitez, roberto duran, thomas hearns, eusebio pedroza, and salvador sanchez, we need to bring boxing back to tv exposure.
