Is braided fishing line worth the money?

Depends on what kind of braid you opt for. "Spiderwire" i tihnk is not a traditional braid. Go for brands such as any japanese brand or Tufline XP or Power Pro etc.

I basically stick to the japanese and Tuf line. They are expensive but are worth the money.

Braid provides:

+ increase strength to line diameter (e.g. some braids of 20lb breaking strength are the equivalent mono diameter of 8lb etc.)

+ Very little to zero stretch (great for feeling bites and working lures etc.)

+ Because of smaller diameter, you can fit much more on your spool

+ Less stretch than mono (depending on your application this is good and bad - e.g not the best for marlin fishing)

+ Increased casting distance compared to mono

+ Longer lasting (mono weather quicker than braid. If braid is treated correctly it can lasore than 2 seasons of fishing).

+ Less drag in the water due to decrease in diamter

There are many more advantages of braid.

Go and get some of the stuff i mentioned and learn knots such as the bimini twist, albright etc.. and you will have a ball.

BTW, braid is extensively used in extreme fishing situations e.g. Heavy tackle popper fishing and heavy jigging. Do a search for that kind of fishing and you will see how the above mentioned points can assist (particularly in that type of fishing).

I havent sen any one useing braded line in years

Do mean like Spiderwire? If so.Not to me it isn't. I know that it is really resistant to abrasion, but if you get hung up you can't break it off. So unless your fishing where there aren't any snags or fish with sharp gill plates, scales or skin save your money.

I have never liked it at all.  its real expensive and hard to work with
