Is bread bad for you?

ive tried wheat free bread, which is nice, but falls apart in your hands and is expensive. is wholemeal bread good? i know its better than white anyway.

  1. History tells us that the main staple food for generations has been bread and potatoes. Bread is mentioned in the Bible, so I believe we have to eat it whether we like it or not,

    Of course it's bad for you, What isn't???


  2. Good quality white bread is better than cheap brown bread. Don't go on colour, go on quality. Have whatever you enjoy, just not too much of it. Like most things in life, quality is more important than quantity. Ignore the scare-mongers and go with what makes you happy.

  3. Stay away from white bread. There's a saying," The whiter the bread , the quicker you're dead" Whole wheat or whole grain breads are healthier for you. I love bread - even an occasional white bread such as sourdough or French won't hurt. Moderation is key.

  6. Whole grain bread is best for health reasons.  Read the label and try to get 3 grams of fiber per slice and the lowest in sugar.  If you can find it buy bread that has no corn syrup in it.  I like Healthy Choice 7 Grain bread for a healthy option.

  7. I avoid anything that has corn syrup, hydrogenated-anything, and only contains bleached enriched flour.  Go for the wholegrains and wheat as long as they don't contain the corn syrup or hydrogenated oils.  This will be very hard to do so prepare to spend alot of time reading labels.

  9. Bread isn't bad for you. It gives you carbohydrates, which is basically long-lasting energy (versus sugar, which is short-lasting energy, hence why you crash after sugar). A lot of bread and not enough of the other food groups doesn't provide you with a well-balanced diet.

    And you're right - the darker breads give you more fiber and other vitamins, whereas the white fluffy bread is basically stripped of everything. But white bread isn't bad for you - if you've got lots of good stuff inside the sandwich, you'll be fine.

  10. it depends..white bread is really not good for u. my mom and i eat whole grain bread. is the best kinda bread out there. the whites are what kills you. and it doesnt fill u up so 1hr after u eat ur hungry again. my suggestion get wholegrain bread... better 4 u  

  11. if ure worried just stick with brown bread its healthier than white
