Is breathing chalk harmful?

i have never had a sinus infection my entire life, until i started using chalk for indoor rock climbing.  i have had two in past six mos that had to b treated with antibiotics and/or nasal wash bottle and steam room.  i suspect a link so i will try to confirm somehow, by using no chalk and possibly a mask to avoid the dust of a dozen or more other clbers
