  1. of course it is!! thats what my husband and i are planning on doing. you can sell them for $1000 each

  2. Not really.  Most good breeders do it for the love of their breed, and they put a lot of time and effort into it- not as a side job.   Think of the money it takes to raise a dog for two months, then multiply it by the number of puppies..etc.

If you have an away from home job already, I would not breed dogs.   My neighbors bred collies, but they lived on a farm, had the space, and most of the family was home during the day.

Finally, I live in Los Angeles, and when I go on websites, about a third of the dogs I see on adoption websites are Pit Bull and Pit Bull mixes.   If people do not want them from the pound, getting people to purchase them for $500 or more will be near impossible.

  3. No- I breed myself sometimes and I PROMISE you the unexpected vet bills add up quite quickly....breeding is also a very messy, time consuming business and often requires permits and licenses in many areas...pitts are in shelters in HUGE #s, many are killed daily due to lack of homes, and how would you properly screen homes to ensure dogs are not going for fighting?

Breeding dogs for 'profit' often backfires and ends badly, especially with people who know nothing about it.

I am able to as we are pretty secure, financially, and I do not work- thus I have the time to devote to a litter or two a year.

  4. No.
