  1. lower speed  mean gas saved,,and lots of tickets.............

if everyone did 55 and no more, we would save millions of gallions...........but I don't think people think that way.......it is more like''everyone but me can go 55""

  2. In my area, you bet it is. There are a lot more accidents, some fatal, since the limit went up. People don't go the speed limit as it is. I can be driving at 60, which is the limit here, and folks will be passing me as if I were parked. You give them an inch, they take a mile.

  3. no..most modern big rigs are geared for 65/70 mph

  4. NO! It was not a good idea in 1975, and not now, either.

  5. Well, it didn't save all that much gas-mainly because it was arbitrary; many vehicles actually were more fuel-efficient at 65 or so.  What really saved fuel was the consumer demand for vehicles with better gas mileage.  Higher prices, bring lower demand; you may not be aware of it-the popular media doesn't really report on it-but already in the USA per capita consumption is down compared to just last year.

When demand is down, prices will drop.  That's how supply-and-demand work.

...and this has what to do with aircraft???

  6. I know there's an active committee out there now trying to bring it back. But it didn't do anything in the 70s when it was implemented, and it won't do anything now. It doesn't reduce fuel consumption or pollution by one ioda. So I don't know why it has come up again. Maybe each generation needs to learn the same lessons all over again.

  7. Not for aircraft it isn't.

  8. No because the greater majority of airplanes cannot fly that slow.

  9. No, we should be raising speed limits not lowering them.

  10. about as good as it was before it did little good.... it did make money for the state by tickets.. didnt save much gas... if you think about it.. if the government wanted to save gas they would make the car maker sell cars that gets better mileage only there wouldnt be any gas hogs....any really if you think about this the gas didnt go up til after we started fighting the military is using a lot of fuel.. almost as much as the whole country doe in a month they use... so thats a big part of it.... they keep saying its supply and demand... like low supply ... so how many place have you seen that dont have gas now... right... the demand is going to fuel trucks tanks ships plane all of which dont get any mileage .... im not against our military.. but thats where the gas is going

  11. Good idea as far as who's concerned? Saves fuel but to many that doesn't matter. Usually if it involves the government it's not a good idea.
