In travelling via airplane from Turkey to Canada is it ok to bring a hard drive of computer whether in hand bag or in the suitcase?

There are lots of information in a computer and all of these information cannot be put as CDs.

I also wondered about bringing written CDs instead, what about that? is that allowed to be brought? and if so how many of them are allowed?

Which way is better and allowed you think? To put all of the computer data on CDs or bringing the hard drive?

  1. when they x-ray it you'll have a nice clean hard drive

  2. yes.but I'm not sure if you can use it on board<sorry>google it

  3. Sad but true ,is it even legal to fly anymore?,Rich

  4. Yes, you can. However I suggest you take it in your hand luggage so you can make sure it is scanned by the hand-luggage scanner which is safe for hard drives, laptops, etc. Do not allow it to be x-rayed... if you're taken to one side for a random security search (as they do nowadays) make sure the security person knows you have electronic equipment in your bag and so not to go messing around with other scanners.

Putting it in your suitcase would most likely be fine, but it means you have less control over how it is handled.
