  1. yes!!! I have it for over 5years now...and love it!!

  2. The short answer is yes.

    The long answer, depends.

Everyone has a different experience with broadband VoIP.  When it works, it is a great money saver.  But, if you have technical problems, then you may wish you didn't make the switch.

Bottom line is that you have to try it and see for yourself.

Just don't disconnect your regular land-line PSTN phone service until you are completely satisfied with your broadband VoIP service.

The best way to get started with VoIP is to use it for all your long distance calling, but not as local phone or emergency 911 calling.  Once you are completely satisfied with VoIP as your long distance service, then you may want to consider pulling the plug on Ma Bell.

  3. For the most part it is like having a regular phone.  There are a few problems that do require a little thought.

First some have a problem with 911 calls as the line out is not where you are but could be miles away so the wrong 911 operator receives the call.  important to check when using 911.

Second power to the modem is critical.  For example if you have a power surge or a blip in power to your house the modem will shutdown and reboot, resulting in phone loss for the reboot time.  Another problem with power is a blackout in your area.  So cure is a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) like for the computer with AVR (automatic voltage regulator) so clean power to the modem.   This can also power the phone if you have one that needs house current for answering machine or whatever.

    Otherwise not a bad thing.

  4. Ive had optimum voice for several years now, there have been some small problems but for the most part I love it !
