Is brushing teeth with baking soda a good idea? ?

i heard it makes your teeth feel squeaky clean, and it whitens as well. however, i also heard that it makes your mouth smell bad, is that true? how much is all of this true? has anyone tried it? also, it's baking SODA, right, not powder? or are they interchangeable?

  1. People used to use baking soda to brush their teeth with back in the old times. Modern day toothpaste is made of silica (cheaper than backing soda and preform the same job) and small amounts of fluoride which strengthens and whitens your teeth. You could use baking soda just fine but its the equivalent to reading by kerosene lamp instead of a light bulb.


  2. It is true that baking soda does make your breath smell bad or in funnier term, "poo". But the fact baking soda makes your teeth feel squeaky clean and whitens it is another true fact. But if you're going to do it every day you probably might want to throw in mouthwash or probably brush your teeth with baking soda 2-3 times a month..
