In my 60 litre fish tank i have two small orandas (quarentined), and i've noticed some foam around the sides on the surface of the tank, the fish keep 'eating' it. Is this normal?

I have a filter and an airpump too.

  1. It's most likely a bubble nest. A nest fish make when they found the perfect mate. The female will lay eggs there and baby fry (fish) will be born.

If your foamy surface looks kind of like these:

    It's a bubble nest.

  2. How did that foam create there?

Make sure that it doesn't include any chemical stuff because it can hurt your fish.

  3. if you used aqua safe to treat your water and you used to much that'll also make your water look like soap at the top of the tank its not harmful but it will go away with some water changes

  4. lol . . . those are male fish and they are building bubble nests so that their future females can have wittle baby fishees.

  5. Goldfish don't make bubble nests so rule that out.  Some chemicals that you add for chlorine removal or disease treatment will cause bubbles.
