Is buckethead autistic or mentally retarted in any way or does he just mess around?

i was curious after he seeing how he acts he looks like he could possibly have autism.

Buckethead does not have autism. Why is talent considered a disability? Societal ignorance sucks.

No, I really don't think there is anything mentally 'wrong' with him as such, he's just a bit eccentric (maybe that's putting it too mildly).

That said, I read an interview with the producer of the new G'n'R album a whie back and in it the guy said that Buckethead seemed to turn the eccentricities on and off at will. Like he could be completely normal and other times he would be acting strangely, but it was usually when it was a situation that suited him to act weird, such as getting out of conflict. Sadly he's now gone from the G'n'R thing, Axl makes yet another bad decision.

Buckethead is amazingly talented though and even if he were to be autistic, mentally retarded or even a quadroplegic midget wearing a bikini, I'd still listen to his music.

They way he plays, he could be a musical savant.  He playing is sickening, his song writing is amazing.  He sweeps, plays flamenco, thrash, techno, trance, psychedelic, progressive, experimental, you name it. And he released 17 albums all new material in 2007, with 13 in one day!!! He puts 99% of all guitarists to shame.  Listen to the studio version of Soothsayer, it will blow your mind!  GET his albums!
