Is business studies a subject worth doing at A-level worth doing?

If you are interested in it and want to do so then I would do it. Ignore all the rumours that go round about universities looking down on it...most of them are more bothered about the actual grades that you get rather than what the subject is in...as long as you get the points needed then universities will be fine with it. I can't tell you whether it is worth doing or not...likewise with anything, something is only worth it if you are interested in it. It does open up your options and gives you a head start into the business world, which may be beneficial to you if you ever go into a company or want to own your own business.
