Depends if it is legal to buy one in the US (and I suspect not if you are asking this).

I know I have read many times about buying e.g. seeds.  It is legal to sell in NL, so the supplier ships them (after getting paid of course).  US customs confiscate them as they are illegal in the US.  The customs is left having paid, but with no recourse against the supplier as legally the supplier has fulfilled his part of the deal.

So check if it is legal in the US and check the small print of any purchase online

Yup...and if you can find a good Delft pipe...the prices go up into the 800-1,000 dollar range.

Carry it... clean it well before shipping or transporting in your jacket pocket.

could be. if its a "tobacco" pipe. other then that i dont see why unless theres some rule about importing stuff.
