You can buy any title on the web for very little are they legal and stand as good as someone knighted by the queen? Or is it some rip off. Since it seems if you own a small bit of land connected with certain Manor Houses your entitled to whatever.

  1. You can buy titles yes but they have NO power - look at Chris Eubank ,he bought a title and can`t sit in The House of Lords.

  2. I make it my business to put out kindness on this site, so please don't read this as a diatribe:

People who obsess about hereditary titles and class distinctions sound very silly and grasping for something that modernity and good sense are ridding the civilized world of.

The British always impress me as sensible people of great resolve and character, so it is a wonder that so many Britons still label themselves and others so meaninglessly. Who cares how much land your ancestors owned?

These comments are not meant for the question poster, but for some of the elitists who turn their noses down to "lower classes".

I'm just an American. Maybe I don't understand how important you think you are.

  3. It's not legal in the UK,and most other European aristocracy look down upon those with bought titles. It is a rip-off.The aristocracy keeps track of genuine titles through Burke's Peerage and Debrett's.

  4. Its a rip off, you may impress the working classes but most people would realise you weren't legit if there were 500 other people out there using your lord of the manor title.

  5. They're all rip-offs - the only people who can give knighthoods or peerages are the government or the queen, and usually it takes both of them to do it! Parliament submits a list to Buck House for approval.

  6. Common Sense tells you, "If you have to BUY the title Sir or Lord, or any title of respect for that matter, then it is NOT the same as being "knighted" by the Queen or respected by the community."
