  1. If Kelly Pavlik stepped up he could take him out. Even though you might think Im crazy. Jermain Taylor could probubly outpoint him.

I think Jones might be able to beat him if he can show even 75% of his former self.

Id like to see him fight Lucian Bute, that would be a good fight.

Calzaghe is really aggresive, but he has weaknesses that Hopkins style just was not right for.

  2. I agree with Ruddiger b/c Kelly Pavlik wont bak off for one second, calzaghe dosent punch hard enough to bak kelly off, he went thru everything miranda had and went 19 rounds with the champ taylor.  I think pavlik would knock calzaghe out, he is too strong and calzaghe so called "granite" chin was a fluke, he got knocked down on one punch an dwas wobbled by a couple other big shots.  Pavlik punches WAY harder and crisper than hopkins, granted hopkins is accurate but at 43 hes not as strong as kelly.  Calzaghes speed is very rare but hes got no punch, and when he tries to let his hands go pavlik wont bak off and keep coming.  Pavlik would win and taylor maybe, i think those r the only two tht ive seen so far that oculd beat calzaghe.

  3. I think he's c**p at both weight classes, he has fought nobodies his whole career. Bernard hopkins, whom he barely beat, was WAYYY past his prime, fighting professionally at the age of 43 is simply unacceptable. He will never be ranked as one of the best fighters at that weight, but rest assured, I'm pretty sure we will soon see a great super middleweight in either pavlik or taylor.

  4. roy jones would have eaten calzaghe in his prime. jones could still do it. calzaghe is overrated

  5. Jermain Taylor would beat him.  Pavlik would dominate him, knock him out in less than 5 rounds.  Good, not a great fighter, a lot like Virgil Hill, a good long run, but he's going to lose against the first top fighter.  Like Hill losing to Hearns, Calzaghe will lose to either Pavlik or Taylor.

  6. If you go back in my posts...there is a question who would win the fight between Calzaghe and Hops...I called it...and I even thru in the knockdown. Honestly...Im proud of it  :)

Calzaghe has safely sat back and let his legend grow. Honestly I cant fault him for it...in all likelyhood had he come to the States six years ago when the division was too thick for him, he would have been horsewhipped. Roy Jones, James Toney...alot of people have walked thru his division that he wanted no part of.

He is at the end of his career...dont be surprised if he doesnt take a "safe" end fight to secure it. Roy Jones would be the best bet because Calzaghe is of the mind that Jones is past his prime.

No way, no how..in h**l, would Calzaghe call down Taylor OR Pavlik. For one, Pavlik hits too hard with either hand, AND his power transferred up with his weight. This would be a problem for Joe, because where Bhops right stunned Joe, Pavlik's right would stop him cold.

And Taylor, despite me thinking he is the most disappointing thing since the McRib, is also a bad choice for Joe. For one, hes ALOT faster than Joe, and a considerably better boxer. Two, his speed SNAPS his punch...where as Joe throws arm punches. Jermains punches would sneak him and daze him. Also, Taylor is taking the time to settle into his new weight...not rushing into the weight gain...definitely not a good thing for Joe.

    Jones it will likely be.

  7. calzaghe would get his @$$ kicked by pavlik.i think edison miranda would make him his b****.arthur abrahams would ko him.i also think roy jones jr would destroy him.

the WBO title was always a lauching post to get to the higher titles like the WBC,WBA,or IBF.holding on to it and not make the next step only says that you are a coward.

calzaghe almost got ko'd by a 43 year old has been.if this doesn't tell you what kind of fighter he is then i'm sorry.

  8. I agree that Calzaghe has been babied by Franke Warren for almost his entire career. He beat a faded Eubanks and kept his useless WBO belt and stayed on his home turf for almost entire career.

He should have come to States years ago and pushed to get fights with Jones Jr, Hops, Toney ect years ago. Instead, he expected the then # 1 P4P Jones Jr to hop on a plane to fight a  guy most people in US never heard of in Wales.

Calzaghe likes to say these fighters ducked him, yet he did nothing to get these fights to happen. Look at David Haye. He went right to Wlad's face and challenged him, and now their a massive stir for a future fight.

Now Calzaghe willing to come to the states and fight these guys when they are past their primes.

Calzaghe resume is pathetic. Over-rated LAcy, who struggled to beat Manfredo Jr. Kessler, who blatantly ducked a fight recently with Edison Miranda, and a 43 year old Hops, who he struggled to beat in a split decision.

His style of fighting is amataurish. It's called shoe-shining, where basically throw a bunch of ineffective punches to impress the judges and steal rounds. It's a tactice frawned upon by most legit amatauer coaches.
