  1. Every system has it's good points and bad points. I'm sure someday we will have a better system then capitalism but, for the time being there is no other system in the world that has ever pushed the envelope for progress then capitalism

  2. Capitalism isn't totally good.  Nor is it perfect.  However, out of all the economic systems, it is the best and the one that is very beneficial.  It promotes growth and has helped different economies of different countries- US, China, Japan, along with the EU grow strong.  It has its problems, but it works better than communism and socialism- it has more growth and works better (I haven't heard of a socialist or communist economy succeding).

The problem with capitalism is that there is a lot of exploitation and greed.  Greed to the point in which human lives are expendable to some.  Greed to where there's a lot of blood money.  That is why there is so much panic and unhappiness by academics over capitalism.  It must be addressed and dealt with.

And we've made progress in that.  The promotion of worker's rights and the advent of the 40 hour work day has contributed to improving conditions.  Let me also say that no country has a completely capitalist system- it just wouldn't work and exploitation would be a lot higher.

However, I believe it'd still be better than Communism and Socialism.  I know that not everyone will like my beliefs about capitalism and I apologize if I've offended anyone.  Like I said I don't think capitalism is perfect and it needs controls at times.  Nevertheless, I believe in a mixed system, kind of like the one in the US- mixed. Mixed economy- it works out most effectively.

  3. Capitalism = Hard Work = Scientific Advances = Improved Living Conditions

  4. no.it is the greed which is dangerous.

  5. Capitalism is the only way to save mankind.

If people are afraid it is because they are ill informed.

Read Ayn Rand and gain an ounce of perspective on your life.

Then you will not need to ask such questions

  6. Yes, it is fundamentally dangerous because it prizes profit above all other considerations--including human well-being.  It is an undemocratic economic system, where the process of creating "profit" is actually a process of stealing the value produced by labor.  The poor and the wealthy do not naturally exist together as just some unfortunate historical reality, but as the result of a social process where the wealth for a few is generated at the expense of the laboring many.  Poor health care, housing, education, and other services are endemic problems in capitalist states because the only thing that counts is the ability to pay.  An increasing destruction of our environment--and the possibility of the extinction of humanity-- is also tied to the profit motive.

The world's leading scientists--or "intellectuals" as you call them--rightfully recognize that the polar icecaps are melting, there is increasing species extinction, and that real wages are declining in advanced capitalism.  Their numerous studies are not intended to create fear, but to expose realities that may have hitherto been left undiscussed.  These studies should be used as guide for policy formation and to improve the human condition.

  7. Capitalism is a good thing, but so is some government oversight.

Many of our current economic problems stem from deregulation.

And what many pure capitalists will fail to acknowledge is that failure to care for the least priveledged will result in higher costs and lower marginal returns, ie Health Insurance.
