  1. nooooo its bad use some actual chain lube its more of a thin oil than a thick grease!

  2. It's good enough to use on the bike bearings, although not ideal for it, and it can be used other places like the seatpost....but don't use it to lube your chain.  (!!!)

Pick up some bike chain lube instead....it'll last better and be much (much) cleaner.  Grease on a chain instead of an oil chain lube will just attract all kinds of dust and dirt and turn into an awful black mucky mess within a ride or two...seriously.   In addition to being filthy and getting your clothes greasy, it's a great way to wear out a bike chain about 10 times faster than if you use the proper lube (all that dust and dirt that sticks to the grease will grind away metal in the rollers of the chain really fast).

I really like ProLink Pro Gold lube, but there are lots of good ones out there.  Choose one that sets up dry instead of a "wet" lube, unless you have a lot of rain and puddles to ride through.

  3. Axle grease is fine, but reconsider. That thick grease is also a magnet for dust and sand. While the gears are protected from corrosion, the sand does not wash come off as easily as if instead you had used some kind of oil. Grease is OK, but not the best option.

  4. Don't use grease on your chain get some chain oil.  You should have been cleaning and oiling your chain regularly, dust is hard on them.

  5. Car axle grease will not work for your chain and sprockets.  It will gunk everything up and attracted tons of dirt and debris which will wear your chain and cogs down.

Get a light oil, like Dumonde Tech, I've used all kinds of oils and non-oil lubricants for my chain and this works the best, stays the cleanest and lasts the longest.

Here's a link for a place you can buy the Dumonde at:
