  1.   With just one difference - when russians own carpets they do not lay them on the floor but hang them on the walls - If you like this -

      A possible explanation of this is that carpets being made of wool can contribute to more isolation against cold in houses -


  2. Carpeting of an entire apartment or house in Russia is rare. We, Russians, lay rugs on the floor or hang them on the walls. Mostly rugs are placed in living rooms or bedrooms, smaller rugs can be placed in hallways.

    If you check out this link http://www.oksanas.net/st_petersburg_1br... you will see that there's a rug in the living room and hallway, but otherwise the apartment has wooden floors.

  3. It depends on taste of owners. Carpeting is more common in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan homes.
