  1. they do it for comfort, i think

  2. Nobody knows exactly why they do this. I read that this is how they find milk from their mother and for some reason it stays with them for life. It is comforting and relieves anxiety I think. They usually do it when you are stroking them so it could very easily be a sign of affection, and thinking of you as the mother.

  3. ive always thought it was a sign of affection

  4. if kittens can love like people then this is it...the tiny kittens knead the Mommy's milk glands to get them to produce milk.  my cats continue this caress on anyone that can stand it... I have found that I knead my cats when they are on my lap..maybe its catching but I find that I will dig my fingers deep in their fur and slowly knead them back...wow  cats are great things

  5. Yes.  It means they are content.

  6. Yes I think so, when I go to bed my cat will come over and knead on me before she goes to sleep.

  7. I understand that its a cats way to exercise or its "physical therapy".

Thats why its helpful for them to be trained to use a scratching post, so they can exercise, kneed, or climb.

  8. Yes, it is. For my cat she kneads when she is in her most comfortable place on the bed. And when everyone is relaxed and also focused on her, either in energy or patting her.
