Is channel 7 the most pathetic excuse of an Olympic telecast provider of all time?

How in the h**l are you going to miss the basketball gold medal match to show 7 news? This has easily been the worst Olympic telecast of recent memory. I pray that 7 never get the Olympics again.

C'mon 7. If you really want to be taken seriously as a leading broadcaster, you should at least be able to organize timetables for major events. You let your own shows like 'Battle of the Choirs' run upto15 mins over regularly, why would I ever buy a TiVo when you can't keep manage your business very well. The biggest sporting final of the olympics get's cut because you 'have to' tell us the news - c'mon...  I'd support you but your lack of efficiency demands alternatives.... Step Up or get out of the Way.

Yea Ch7 is totally homo! Their coverage has been pathetic with Aussie medal replays taking up most of the air time. Fair enough replay it once or twice if the live event wasn't in prime time but at least tell us what times certain events are going to be shown. Hope Ch9 gets the London Games. Their Wide World of Sports team will be professional about it's coverage. The Men's basketball gold medal game tune out was a perfect example of crappy coverage. That's why myself and others are on the net refreshing pages for the result instead of enjoying it on free to air TV.

I can't believe how poor this coverage has been by channel 7.  I'm fuming about the Gold medal basketball match, I can't believe one of the closest games of the tournament has been cut off, let alone a gold medal match.  

Regarding other disappointing coverage, I noticed others mentioning the number of replays of the same thing over and over again.  This wouldn't be so bad for the people that missed the original showing, except that they reveal what happened before it's replayed anyway.  

In particular, I missed the pole vaulting event, as I had to get to sleep for an early start.  I switched on the next day, and I thought "beauty! I get to watch the pole vault"  Much to my disappointment, there were at least 3 ad bulletins during the replay that said that not only did Hooker win Gold, he broke the Olympic record.  Kind of kills the thrill of watching sport if you know the results.

There were a couple shows that 7 were flogging during the games that I was interested in watching, but I'm going to give them a miss now.

Sorry for such a long rant, but I am so angry about this!

THEN TURNING OFF BASKETBALL MATCH TODAY (FINAL) USA SPAIN WITH USA LEADING ONLY BY 2 POINTS, THEY SAY - 'OH LETS TURN OFF BBALL AND SWITCH TO CHANNEL 7 NEWS WHERE HALF OF THE NEWS IS ABOUT THE OLYMPIC ITSELF' FKING PATHETIC CHANNEL. All the good or mediocre work Ch 7 has done for the last two weeks, gone like that in the basketball final.  Yes, I know they have been getting caned for not having a proper schedule, and the ad breaks, but all in all I was okay with it.  But now, the whole brand is toxic to me.

I should have known when they played approximately seven minutes of ads in a ten minute third quarter that things were going to go pear shaped - the second most important medal of the last day (behind the men's marathon), on the edge of my seat, excited because it was so close, wanting to see how these millionaire superstars would react to a (likely) win, and no, the news is more important.

At least Ch 7 don't have the Olympic coverage anymore.

It seems lots have been missed, and others replayed over and over and over again.  

But what is it with Channel 7 newsreaders who say that our athletes took the consolation prize with a bronze medal?  

Surely the fact that athletes are so good they get to compete at the Olympic Games is glory!  To top that with a medal of any description is an absolute bonus.   SHAME on Channel 7 for saying a bronze is a consolation prize.

Once again Channel 7 has proven how amateur they really are. Kerry Stokes you really should be embarrassed. Cutting to the news during the  mens gold medal basketball match was just wrong. Even if it was the Americans, would Channel 7 have done the same if the Boomers were in it?

what happen to the last 8 minutes? my TV skips from 8 min to 5 to 3 and then 2 seconds? This ch 7 run by 7 dwarfs!

I can still take it on other games when they cut it for the 100ish replay relay swimming and other 100ish replays but this final is the worst by far. it's just getting worst and worst everyday and to do that in the final day is unforgiving.

Really need to lift your game.  Basketball coverage is pathetic at best.  Came back from cut away the other night to hear Gaze singing the praise of the previous play ... that we never saw.  I can't beleive you cut away in the final quarter of USA vs. Spain tonight for the 6 o clock news ...

You took the words out of my mouth. I was watching the match i've been waiting for and the match has been neck to neck through out. And right @ the last quarter of the gold medal match, channel 7 cut straight to the news. Bloody **** for brains. They whole channel 7 crew should be replaced by monkeys. SBS telecasts their olympics so much better.

Please do everyone a favour and don't telecast ne sporting event ever again.

The performance in the two finals was the worst.

Could even get to the start of the Opals game even when it started after midnight - apparently an interview with a rower that won gold about 4 hours previously was more important.

The mens final - enough said!

Hopless - thankfully they are now done with the Olympics and can go back to their hopeless telecast of ridiculously delayed Friday night footy.

Hey 'FOOTY' i bet you were glad they switched to the AFL the other night. Many Vic were pissed of big time, kind off surprised me knowing what there like with there AFL.

7s coverage has ben pretty ordinary to say the least although support comentators i thought were fantastic, The gymnastics bird, Monagetty, The soccor commentators, the chick on the hocky and Raylene Boyle at the track was tops. They all added much needed input into the differant sports, even the chick doing the Ping Pong knew her stuff and made it interesting.

The amount of adds was ridiculous and your right about the news, cutting from the olympics to tell us about the olympics.

and yeah, i wanted to watch the basketball final.

i do not understand how they could have cut the game for an ad break when there are perfectly good times to do that (ever heard of timeouts and in-between quarter breaks????)

I share your prayers. This is the absolutely worst coverage ever of any olympics and if there was an olympic event for poor broadcast and viewer temper inflammation, se7en would take a world record setting gold for it.

At best, I rate the quality of their performance across the board as amateur -ish.

THEY STILL HAD THE BASKETBALL GOLD MEDAL MATCH ON THE HD CHANNEL! AND THEN THEY TOOK IT OFF THAT, AS WELL!

They took it off the HD like 2 minutes after they did on the Normal Channel. It's like they forgot to change it!

Theres like 4 7 digital channels! ALL WITH NEWS!!! WHO WANTS NEWS IN HD!!!
