Charity is a word that comes from the Greek "Charis" which means good, Love.    

In Colonial times, Charity meant "love" in the sense of love applied from the heart.  As in 1 Corinthians 13th Chapter which uses the word CHARITY in every verse.

Charity as we use it today means to give to good causes, as, to the poor, to the fatherless, to organizations which are doing things we want to see done.

Charity is good depending on the view of the person doing it. and the person receiving it.  Charity is good, for it is always good to help another.  

Charity always should have the goal of helping another to pick himself or herself up out of circumstances which are burdensome.   It should never be used to demean someone. Example, Orphanages, shelters, food banks, clothing banks.

Charity is not good when it merely KEEPS A PERSON IN PLACE AS AN OBJECT OF DERISION, and does not truly help the person.

Yes it very good, however if you donate money to charity just for tax purposes then i guess it is not soo good!

It is good as most people know it is. But it is also bad when it is misused and over relied upon.

Charity is good for its intention is to help the needy and  the poor. Charity gives hope to those who are suffering from pain or sickness. It gives them the opportunity to be healed out of charity.

charitable institutions are present precisely to cater to those who cannot afford and have less in life. This is the sole purpose why this institutions exist. It is good for they bring joy and happiness especially if there problems are addresed by it.

of course charity is good. it shows that you as a human being care for other people. it gives you a sense of compassion towards your fellow beings and that you yourself can feel the pain and that you too want to help

Charity is good for those who can not help them selves....as the saying goes......give me a fish I eat for to day, but show me how to fish, I can eat every day........

The better answer, Teach someone to be self-sufficient.

I'm not a religious person, but one of the parables that I really liked growing up and still sticks with me is as follows:  Give a man a fish, feed him for a day...teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.

yes of course it is good to have charity... it is one of the most highest form of good conscience in humanity. being good to others only shows that you are greatful for what you are, after all did'nt God commanded to be good to all? you have only one life to let the other people experience your charity...
