    buy a good shampoo/conditioner

  4. yes all chemical straightening  is a hair disaster expect the japanese thermal  straightening but it is very very expensive

    instead of that try these tips

    1-apply  mayonnaise  on your hair for two hours twice a week

    2- use Kerastase shampoo and conditioner , it is expensive but very great

Yes, any chemical procedure is damaging to your hair.  The way straighteners and permanents work is to break the bonds in your hair and then create new bonds to change the hair.  Not all of the bonds reform and so there is always some level of damage.  Reputable salons know how to do this process with minimal damage.  You should try it once and see how you like it.  The first time you have it done there will be little damage anyway.
