  1. well i was in labour for 3 days, and they refused me any pain relief!

In the beginning when i begged for pain relief (already had been in labour for 10 hours) it took them 2 hours to get back to me, when they did they threw me some paracetamol!!!!

i was alone without medical care in the hospital for 2 days, when the midwifes arrived my heart rate was up at the rate of babies heartrate (too fast)

I gave birth OVER 3 DAYS LATER with NO pain relief!!! NOT THROUGH CHOICE!.

My daughters skull had been crushed so badly that she kept me up crying all night, i didn't have a wink of sleep for 4 days, the other women in the ward kept complaining at me and nobody in the hospital would help. come breakfast time, they told me to LEAVE my baby whilst i went for a shower!, AS IF i was going to leave my baby alone and take a shower.  I left asap, next time I'm going private!

  2. I really dont think that things are that bad everywhere but I do think that the service you get depends on the hospital you have the baby at.  Going on my own experience (i had my baby at the countess of chester hospital), I was treated very well and the midvives were very attentive.  I had a student midwive and a qualified midwive who popped in and out of my ward as she was also checking on other mums to be on the labour ward.  I personally feel that some areas/hospitals offer a better maternity service then others.

  3. I've had two babies in the past 2 years in UK hospitals and the care was fantastic, though obviously, just as it varies from country to country, it varies from hospital to hospital.

  4. Hi I have heard all sorts of people and I try not to listen and I will have to wait a few more weeks and see for myself,  as there is no point in listening to people as some people exagurrate alot, my brothers girl firend said she wouldnt have anymore and the midwifes were horrble to her etc, yet I know someone else who gave birth months later and said her time in hospital was great and there was only 1 midwife that was horrbile, I suppose it depends on how you are feeling at the time etc.

Ill let you know in a few weeks as I am due any min now lol

  5. My best friend gave birth in Spain, then had her second in the UK. She said there's no comparison, it was far cleaner, more efficient and more professonal in the UK.

We all love to ***** the NHS but when you look into it, it's one of the best medical services in the world.

Doesn't mean we don't hate them sometimes...

  6. When I had my baby it was great.  I have no complaints.

  7. You will hear horror stories about everywhere, i live in the North of Ireland and I couldn't complain about the maternity services at all but my friend used to live in London and she said she would of had a better experience giving birth on a farm

  8. I think it is generally very good here in the UK.

I have had 6 children and, for all except one, had excellent support and treatment, the one that wasn't so good still was OK-ish..  and as it was my 4th it didn't worry me too much as I felt in control of the situation. It would have been different if it had been my 1st I am sure!

  9. I had my little boy in London with the help of a fab midwife, doctor and anaesthetist. Not a vet's glove in sight.

  10. Not at all! Im expecting my third baby and everyone of my pregnancies, labour and eventually c-sections have been an amazing experience and ive been treated totally professionally, respectfully and have been 100% happy with the care i have recieved every time.

Some people have one bad experience and blow it totally out of proportion and put down the whole care system, maybe your friend is the one with the problem.
