Is child tax credits free post or does it need a stamp?

a friend has posted hers and forgot to see if it was free post or if it needed a stamp

They usually provide a 2nd class envelope to return it and you do not need to add a stamp

You have to put on a stamp, the tax payers don't pay for that.

Do it online, or if its a renewal just call the freephone number.  I did and it only took a week for them to sort it out, faster that if I'd done it by post.

It is free when they send  a pre addressed envelope, if you haven't got one you will have to pay postage as it is not a free-post address
