  1. The others are all right and the lady who said what she did is right Bisto is vegetarian, all non meat ingredients, and when I was in the UK I bought a couple of packets of "Chip Shop Curry Sauce" mix, and brought it back to Canada.

You make it with a water and a bit of fat, oil is best, and buy some chips and do them in the oven, so you can eliminate the extra fat. But at the chip shop your not going to find to many veggie options, except for the mushy peas.

  2. It'll vary from chip shop to chip shop, just ask next time you go in.

  3. Maybe... Ask the people serving you.

Does it really matter any way?

Chips and gravy at home is just as good.

  4. When I have asked in the past, I have been told that the curry contains meat, but I think it's worth asking when you go to different chip shops, because they can have different recipes. The same goes for the gravy.

You may also want to ask them if they fry in vegetable oil or beef dripping, and, if you are not a fish-eating vegetarian, if they fry the chips together with the fish or not.

  5. I suppose it would depend on the make/or chip shop. You would need to ask as most now are more aware of whats in them due to allergies.

  6. Well it wont kill you if thats what you're asking just like a burger wouldnt.

  7. chip shop curry mix is vegetarian, its made up from a powder mix, but you might ask to see the tin or sachet that is used in your local chip shop.

If you mean the Bisto flavour mix that you can buy in your supermarket in the UK, yes it is veggie, so are most of the Bisto range, but not all OXO mixes.

Other answers here just dont understand your question.

  8. chip shop curry, theres a thought to play with. surely curry has meat in them don't they, just like gravy provided its made properly?

    brillian,     wondered same.........

  9. Gravy won't be - it's always some meat in there. Dont know about curry sauce.

The chips almost certainly won't be, however. Chip shops tend to use animal fat to fry their chips in because it tastes better, and probably because its cheaper.
