  1. No worse than natural sources of air pollution such as volcanoes, forest fires or tar pits.

  2. its bad

  3. The short answer: If we're dealing in absolutes; yes, cigarettes emit smoke when lit so there is a small chance (probably infinitesimally small) that it could damage the environment, most notably the ozone layer.

Now, in practice? h**l no. If you were to take all of the smokers in the world and place them in one spot and tell the to all light up, I don't think it would be anywhere near as damaging as one factory's set of smokestacks dumping out massive volumes of smoke. Not to mention we have to take into account  the concentration of a given volume of cigarette smoke and what other chemicals the dissipating smoke is bonding with on the molecular level. I'll bet that very little cigarette smoke actually reaches the ozone layer or other places in the environment where it could do harm.

How do I  know this to be true? Well, for one, none of those radical environmentalists have made a stink about cigarette smoke's affect on the envionment...yet.

  4. When the smoke is visible in the air, it is definitely harmful to those in that environment. Once the smoke is very greatly diluted, it is much harder to make that case. One then has to see it as part of a very much larger problem or combustion products in the air. Tobacco combustion products need not be worse than other smoke to be harmful. They need not be harmful all by themselves to be harmful if they are part of a harmful group.

All that said, tobacco as a natural insecticide is still a valuable alternative to use of other insecticides.

  5. Naturally if it effect other people then it stands to reason !!!!!

  6. Ok...yet more people bashing cigarette smoke....ok...My little cigarette nor my tractors that make my cigarette is any more harmful to the enviroment no more then everyone being lazy & driving their cars from one parking lot to another...If people would only use their cars for HAVE TO SITUATIONS, & not be constantly running all over the place, cruising, etc...That would help........but no matter how hard we try there is no way that we can save anything....we can try to help...but not everyone unfortunately will work together as a team in this...

  7. So, if you are going to smoke a cigar, smoke a quality cigar! And be sure it is something that you enjoy — don't just smoke to look or act cool! Smoke because you enjoy smoking!

I don't smoke (my wife would kill me faster than you can say emphysema), but I do like to stand near those who are smoking. As Raymond Chandler had a character say in his book, "The Big Sleep," — "It's a fine state of affairs when a man has to enjoy his vices by proxy!"

  8. ANYTHING that is maufacutred is bad for the environment..

you have to remember there is a process to make the cigars and cigarettes.. this process involves growing tobacco (herbicides and pesticides) and harvesting (gasoline use by tractors)

then the actuall manufacutring which undoubtedly pollutes too..

plus there is waste.. the "butts"
