  1. No only Jews get circumcised

  2. Not really. It has never been the norm in the UK, and is much less common than it was 60 or 70 years ago.

During the 1930s, around a third of British male babies were circumcised, but this fell sharply after World War II and the rate is about 3% today, or possibly less. Muslims and Jews, who circumcise for religious reasons, would probably account for a large proportion of those.

Anecdotal evidence: I attended school in the North of England during the 1980s. Only one of the boys in my year was circumcised, and he was American.

The current situation is best summed up by this quote from the cirp site: "The National Health Service does not offer free non-therapeutic circumcision, so non-therapeutic circumcision of the newborn is almost unknown. When non-therapeutic circumcision of the newborn does occur, it is most likely to be in furtherance of the religious views of the parents."

Put crudely: in the UK, we prefer our sausages with skins.

  3. There are a lot of muslims here.  They get circumcised.

  4. No its not.

  5. If i was to guess id go with No... its rarely talked about anyway.

  6. Between the two wars neonatal circumcision became popular in the UK but not routine. It gradually became less popular after the introduction of the National Health Service in 1948. Current statistics suggest that around 25% of British men are circumcised.

  7. No, except for religious reasons it is very rare to be circumcised in the UK, unlike the situation in the US.
