Any money you make cleaning houses is profit, since you have no overhead other than maybe the cost of the gas you used to drive there.  The cleaning supplies are provided by the people whose homes you are cleaning.  You may want to get yourself licensed and bonded though, to protect yourself - and any potential employers - from any accidents or damages.

Yes It can be if you can find customers to clean for, and are experienced. You can either provide the cleaning supplies or have the customers provide them. I always kept track of how much I made though and claimed it because I was audited one year. You have to keep track of miles and what you spend also so you can claim that also. I know a lot of people who don't report it though and make out fine.

VERY profitable.   No overhead.  No taxes to be paid.  No boss.  Work for whom and when you want.
