  1. I do ovulate but have "unexplained infertility".  We were trying to conceive for 18 mnths and then I fell pregnant with my daughter 1st cycle of Clomid.  I am now 3 months pregnant after 2 cycles of clomid this time around.  Apparently if you ovulate it can a) increase the amount of eggs that mature and are released - giving the sperm more "targets" and b) improve the quality of the eggs - ie clomid selects only the best egg out of the 5 or 6 follicles that are produced each month in a normal ovulatory cycle.  With this pregnancy I only had one follicle (ie one egg) but I truly believe it was the best quality which is why it worked.  Anyway, clomid definitely worked for me and I ovulate!  Good Luck!

  2. You would need to discuss this with your doctor . . . it is most often prescribed when you do not ovulate on your own but some doctors will prescribe it (after testing) to a couple that has "unexplained infertility" after trying for a year (or 6 months if over 35 years old).  When prescribed to a couple that ovulates the hope is that it will give them a boost / a stronger ovulation.

How long have you been trying?  You say that you have been on folic acid for a month - that is great, stay on it . . . but have you been trying for more than a month?
