Should I think about buying stock in coal companies?

They have a huge drive to convince people that coal should not be forgotten as we look at new forms of energy.

Are they right about this?

Are they a good investment?

  1. i don't think coal would be the answer to our fuel problems. atlease not coal by itself. but i do think that solar and electric energy aswel as green power will play a key part in supplying energy for America in the future.

  2. Coal is a huge source of power for generating electricity.  There are good ideas about how to replace it, but nothing is going to come on stream in enough size to make a difference for years.

  3. talk nuclear -coal is dying out with its dirt etc.

  4. Something has to power this country - oil has doubled, so has natural gas (wait until this winter's heating bills!), and coal is only up 50%.  You can't build cheap solar and wind and cover up half the country with this type.  This leaves coal (which the govt now wants to tax, and make the average person pay double, by 2025) or nuclear.
