Is cold water or warm water better for clothes?

Some of the tags on my colors say to wash them in warm water, but aren't colors supposed to be in cold? Which one will help prevent my clothes from wearing out and pilling? Do jeans go in warm or cold water? Please help me, I'm just starting to do my own laundry to help my mom out. Thanks in advance.

  1. warmer water as directed on packages.

Most clothes require warm water, however there are some exceptions. Just read the labels!!!!

    I hope this helps!!!!

  2. Washing your wash in cold will not only help them retain their color, but it will help your electric/gas bill by not using your water heater.  Wash dark colors inside out.

I wash pretty much everything in cold water and it comes out fine.  I wash my whites with a bit of bleach to keep them white and disinfect, and I wash my colors with a cup of white vinegar in the rinse also to disinfect, but without ruining the colors.

I hope your mom appreciates your efforts!

  3. Use warm water and make sure that what ever detergent you use has color safe bleach to keep your colors purdy!!!!

  4. I have to wash my own clothes to. I personally use warm water for my medium colors.  To keep your clothes from losing color I suggest you use Tide Color Wash.   And I think jeans should be washed in warm water as well.

  5. Cold water.  It's better for the environment because you don't use the energy to heat it; it's better for your clothes because it preserves the color.  Plus you can mix your loads up to include everything and it won't run!

  6. it all depends on the clothes i believe from my experience that cold water is the best for clothing with letters and logos.

  7. i was just reading the washing instructions on our clothes recently. i used to do warm on whites, and cold for colored. but i checked the labels, and some colored clothes do say wash in warm. if they're kinda pricey, i do separate them and wash them sometimes individually if there's no other garment that can go with it. if its plain everday clothes i just put the colored on cold.

i was jeans on cold, inside out.

  8. I hear everywhere to use cold water cuz it's better for the environment

I don't do laundry often but i think colors are washed in cold
