My 8 weeks old daughter is colic and it's so frustrating not knowing what's exactly wrong with her.

Of course, my husband and I would never shake our precious baby! We have the patience and it's a good thing.

  1. Okay, I don't know about all that, but here's some things that are harmful to babies:

    Knives

Apples (at speeds of over 25MPH)

    Ropes

    Anthrax

    Mustard Gas

Wooden Poles being beaten across their backs

    Catapults

    Cars

    Trucks

    Buses

    Semis

    Tractors

  2. My daughter was colicy too. It's just cramps in their abdomen that are very painful. It's not harmful I don't think as most of them grow out of it by 3 or 4 months. My daughter had it too. You just need to be patient. Ask your doctor for something to ease the colic.

  3. I really don't know but my daughter had SEVERE colic for the first 3 months, ALL day ALL night and it was soooooooo hard, hang in there..it goes away like practically overnight and then your little angel baby comes out LOL, I really think its bad gas/digestion.

  4. well when they are colicky they need comfort it could be a number of things causing the colic is she breastfed ? Is she gassy?

  5. Oh its nothing wrong with babies they are just having trouble with the food they are consuming, u gotta find what is right for your baby. My parents said i was a horrible baby allegric to soy the only thing they could give me that helped was whole milk, but that was 20 years ago without all the different formulas. ur doctor should suggest what might be good for ur daughter. good luck!

  6. INFO I FOUND :) MIGHT HELP

Colic is mysterious, but not harmful to your baby.

First advice that parents should heed is to not overfeed the child. Sometimes, when babies cry, parents’ first instincts is to feed them, thinking that they are hungry. Before feeding them, make sure that they are hungry and not having a colic.

Another thing that parents should watch out for is the foods that they take in. This is especially true with moms who are breastfeeding. Some babies are allergic to certain kinds of food and although you are not feeding those foods directly to him, they will still get the allergens through the milk that you give them.

Foods that are usually avoided are caffeine, cabbage, onions, beans, and other foods that produce gas. Juices may also result to colic so make sure that your juices are diluted with water or better yet, just make them drink pure water when not drinking milk.

Intense emotions may also contribute in starting a colic episode. Parents are then advised to avoid letting their babies see their anxiety, their fear or their tension so as to avoid transferring the emotions to the babies.

Walking the infant can vastly help in alleviating colic. Make sure that his legs are drawn up so that pressure is taken from his belly.

Parents can also try letting their babies listen to some soothing music and to rock them gently, which can help relax them.

    ---------------------------------

Call your baby’s doctor or go to the emergency room if:

Your baby cries constantly for more than three hours or the cries are unusually shrill or intense

Your crying baby cannot be comforted, has a tense, hard belly, and this has not ever happened before, or been checked by a doctor

Your baby seems to be in pain or acts sick

    Your baby’s temperature is over 100.5 º

Your baby is vomiting or has diarrhea

You are afraid you might hurt your baby or you feel you cannot care for your baby.

  7. my daughter is colicky sometimes tooo.they say its usually caused by trapped gas. I was colicky as a baby too. it has no harmful effects, it goes away after around 3 months.

things that soothe my colicky daughter are:

    car rides

    rocking her

laying her on her stomach and rubbing her back

  8. no colic is not harmful to babies maybe to you but not to them. did you try car rides?? maybe a soothing nighttime bath?? try some gas drops. lay her on her tummy. or a swing. or if push comes to shove stick her in her crib and shut the door. cuz some babies just cry. and if you tried everything in you power and nothing is working just let her cry and turn up the tv or music and go take a bath to relax. babies just cry

  9. Colic is caused by too much gas in their intestines.  They are crying because they are in a lot of pain, not just because they are fussy.  It is not harmful per se, but who likes to be in pain?  Try using gripe water an all natural remedy for colic that has ginger and fennel.  This has really helped me!  They say babies grow out of it around 3 months or so too.  You can also try eliminating foods that could be causing her to be colicy which include chocolate, sugar, onions, garlic, milk, peanuts and other common allergens.

If you are breast feeding you can also be causing colic by switching b*****s too often.  The foremilk is rich in lactose and as it is sugar, if they get too much it can cause colic.  Look at the like I've provided if you're breastfeeding.

I also use the method in the video that I've attached.  I think the mom is doing it a little hard and I don't do it anywhere near that hard but I think you get the idea.  I mostly just bring his knees up to his chest and "roll" him if you will.  You'll find what works for you, but soon enough you should hear a gigantic "foooot!!!" and you're baby will stop crying!  It really is amazing and I didn't think it would work but I was at my wits end trying to figure out something to do.  Oddly enough it worked so we are all happy!
