Is college cross country running really brutal?

my friend told me she has to run like 10 miles per day so i'm debating on whether i should join or not...the most i've run this summer is like 6 miles at a time so i'm afraid i will not be in good enough shape!

  1. it depends on what school you go to. mine is division III and te most we have ever run is 6-7miles a day. girls usually have 5k races; boys 8k. i wouldnt think your coach would have the girls run anymore than 8 miles


  2. you wont run 10 miles everyday. Some days you'll run 4 miles and others you may run up to 14 or 15. It just depends on the workout. Speed workouts tend to be shorter in distance than runs which build up endurance. We usually have one day of the week where we do an easy run for 2 hours. In the beginning of the season we'll do longer runs to build up endurance and millage. Later on in the season we'll start doing more speed workouts. I wouldn't worry about not being good enough shape. Keep in mind the race is an 8k so you'll be racing less than 6 miles.
