  1. It is a different experience for everyone. Know that you will need to motivate and organize yourself and solve your problems actively. Don't give excuses and seek help if you need it! Especially be careful with time management and learning the "academic style" you need to use in your classes. There should be many workshops and help centers to aid you in this.

That said, college does not have to be a stressful experience; just be sure to balance your social life with your academic goals.

  2. i left school last year and went to college. i really like it you make new friends and its also a chance for you to start again. but different people have different experiences but i enjoyed both high school and college

  3. i am not in college but go with my mom all the time. Its nothing but just school another level higher in school. All the same rules apply

  4. As long as you did pretty well (grades wise) you'll be fine. I was really worried about college too because, no one I knew from HS was coming to the same college and I was pretty shy.

My aunts went to the same school and told me I should "go Greek" (join a sorority). I thought, I'm not the partying type, and I probably won't have time to do it, but I went through rush anyways. It turned out that I really liked it and then I got invites back from both the sororities. I chose the one that my aunts were in and it was great. I met many awesome and hard working women and realized it was not all about partying. It's not at all like you see on tv or in the movies. That's all an exaggeration. My sisters were my advisors (helped me pick my classes), helped me with homework, told me about professors, and gave me other priceless gifts like great memories.

Many of the women in the national spotlight were members of a sorority. Look it up online. I'm a Chi Omega, the largest women's fraternity.I graduated from college 4 years ago and my best friends are a few of my pledge sisters. We still get together and hang out even though we're married with jobs and kids.

I hope this helps. If you don't want to go Greek than find a club with your similar interests.

    good luck!

    Lauren

  5. College is a lot of work, but from a time perspective, its more like having a full time job.

  6. College its self is easier for me. Picking your classes, teachers and times is GREAT. Instead of being at school from 730-230, your there when ever you want. The best advice I can give you is to go to ratemyprofessor.com and get the best teachers you can. Make it easy on yourself. Don't overload yourself and don't pick any classes that you can't handle (that means no 7AM classes!!).

  7. It is horrible! Not surprising then that most people describe it as the best time of their lives.

  8. College was so much more rewarding than HS.  Campuses are filled with great activities because the classes don't take up much time.  To me, the work was less than HS; you have study pals and students who tutor for credit so you can get help any time.  As far as $$$, you can work on campus or off and earn enough to get by.  HS was a rip off for me so college was paradise and then some.  Good luck and try to do as many cool things as you can on campus, make lots of friends, and surprise yourself with the good grades you will get!!

  9. College was the best years of my life...there is schoolwork, but you make a lot of new friends, experience a lot of new things (I joined a sorority) and you really have the feeling of independence. You should have a part time job while going to school for extra cash...you will love it.

  10. Don't worry about it for one minute.  College life was the best thing I have ever experienced and nothing is better or comparable.  All my friends who went away to universities and have graduated all want to go back because college life is the best.  You have no bills, freedom to do whatever you want, parents don't control you, eat in the cafeteria whenever you want, socialize with thousands of people your age.  It will be the best time of your life despite the extremely hard work that you will put into your studies.  It's nothing at all like high school which was a waste of time and a joke.  And you will be poor all the time but so is everyone else around you.  Being poor is like a joke with college kids because the majority of them are from wealthy families and far from actual poverty.

  11. college is way better than high school.  college will be hard if you have a hard major.  if you have an easy major, you will have plenty of time to slack off.  i know i do.  you probably will be broke, but its not a big deal.  you will be having fun anyways.

  12. College is very exciting, and although there is a lot of work, you won't be broke all the time unless you splurge, and you will have plenty of time to do things. You just have to organize your time wisely. College is very fun, and exciting. Trust in the Lord and you'll be fine :)

  13. College is what you make of it. If you keep yourself balanced and manage your time, the classwork is not that bad. I found college to be better than high school because I was taking classes that interested me and that applied to what I wanted to do in my life. There is a lot more freedom and opportunity to do what you want. Take advantage of new opportunities but balance your commitments well and you will not be stressed out.

  14. College is way better.

Just wait for it to start and see how it goes for you personally; all that stuff other people are mentioning totally depends on you, your major, and how you want to run your life.

If you want to be a broke college student, you can, but it's not a requirement.

Get excited again and enjoy the next step in your life!

  15. I iove my college life& i still enjoying it. college life is most precious . we get more experience based on our  attitude, knowledge, activity . you can get good friends, you can have lots of fun&stuffs.one thing is important if you know to manage your time then every thing become easy&possible.then you can feel your college as your home.so,be happy ready to enjoy your life.

  16. For me...

There was a lot of studying that I had to do, but that was because of what classes I took the first semester.  Astronomy, math, english, and theater.  Theater took up ALL of my time during the day and evening...but at night, I did go out a lot...staying out until 3am and getting up for an 8am class.  You know...FREEDOM!  Well, it was hard because of all that stuff...wanting to go out and take all these classes...but it got easier once I realized I didn't need to go out all that much to have fun.  So, just relax...you will do awesome and have a GRAND ol' time! =)

Oh...and as for the high school thing.  I did not have that experience because I didn't treat it like high school.  But some colleges are different and some students are very similar to high school students.  Just hang out with the ones that don't seem that way to you and all will be well. =)
