Is communications application same as speech?!?

You could have a communications application in a form of speech. It could also be communication between computer and computer or computer and GSM unit or Computer and burglar alarm unit or house control unit. In industry we can link almost anything in a communication application. We can link the reservoir level 100miles away to a central control station. We have a communication application where we monitor the effluent pH levels and the amount of flow to the drain on a PC in the workshop. We also have a counter system that counts biscuits at different parts in the plant and sends it to a central computer.

Communication applications could apply to electronic communication or signal processing and not necessary have anything to do with speech, such as PC-to-PC communications.

communication is boarder than speech communication. It can handle data, videos, pictures  and telemetry.

communications deals with moving information from one place( or time) to another. however speech is not only the informaton that can be moved. in wired infrastructure the systems dealing with sound is normally called telecommunication. it includes also fax and networs based on  modem. in wireless speech comm. is called personal communication.
