  1. It is such a subjective measurement that it is hard to quantify. It will greatly depend on the source the display the media and set up.

If you want a OPINION then provide more detail on the exact set up. But I will guarantee that manufacture lackeys will be sure to tout HDMI as superior in the responses to your question. Since they have vested interest in its success.

  2. First of all, the fact that HDMI carries sound has no bearing whatsoever since you're probably not going to use the speakers on the pj if it even has any.

The poster directly above is absolutely correct and there is one other factor to consider and that is cost.  You can buy a long component cable a LOT cheaper than a 20 - 30 ft HDMI.

  3. HDMI Carries Sound

    Componennt Video Does Not

  4. In short.....no.  HMDI would be the best, but DVI is also digital so it would work really well too. If you have HDMI on one device and DVI on the other, they are very compatible with the correct cable. See link below: (Cheaper on Ebay)

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d...

These are all digital hook-up possibities, depending on devices you have:

HDMI to HDMI (Best if possible, carries audio depending on devices)

DVI to DVI (Digital signal, no audio)

HDMI to DVI (see link above: Digital signal, no audio)

Here is a list of video signal types from best to worst:

    • HDMI (Digital + Audio)

    • DVI (Digital)

    • VGA (Analog HD - PC connector)

    • Component (Analog HD)

    • S-Video (Analog) (Some claim superior to compontent, but I disagree.)

    • Composite Video (Yellow cable)

  5. The answer isnt really that simple, the best way to explain it is here.

If you dont feel like reading the whole thing, the end says something along the lines like "The answer--unsatisfying, perhaps, but true--is that it depends. It depends upon your source and display devices, and there's no good way, in principle, to say in advance whether the digital or the analog connection will render a better picture. You may even find, say, that your DVD player looks better through its HDMI output, while your satellite or cable box looks better through its component output, on the same display. In this case, there's no real substitute for simply plugging it in and giving it a try both ways."
