  1. Yes. It has significant quanties of lime in it, plus possibly other additive, that suck the moisture from your skin.  Wear good gloves when doing this kind of work.

  2. no but it sure was rough on my teeth

  3. you will find the skin dries right out.    Make sure to use a good hand lotion after work.

But really, the concrete that is really bad for the hands is the big heavy chunks-when they is dropped on your hands -they hurt.

  4. I agree with both and would add that exposure over time can develop allergies to cement. I know an awful lot of people that can no longer work with cement.

  5. Concrete is very alkaline so you need a mild acid to neutralize your hands.  Rinse your hands with vinegar (white).  This will pH balance your hands to about 95% of normal.  Do this two or three times, then rinse with water.  By the next day your hands should be back to normal.

  6. Yes,you can get concrete burns.

Using white vinegar and washing hands neutralizes the acids, then use a good quality hand lotion. If the condition is worse seek medical attention.

In the bizz, seen allot of bad things.

  7. Agreed with other answer but will add after working with use a good moisturizer for your skin as well.
