  1. Continental Academy is definitely a legit high school. Continental Academy is registered with the Florida Department of Education as a private high school and their official school number is 063228.  They are accredited by the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools since year 2000.  Yes, a high school diploma is better than a GED any day.  I graduated from Continental Academy in April 2010 and I’m currently enrolled in college. If it wasn’t for Continental Academy, I would have never graduated.  Their program saved me time and money. For $350.00, you just can’t beat it.

In terms of SACS accreditation, here is what I learned: SACS is NOT recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of elementary or secondary schools. SACS is a PRIVATE COMPANY – NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY.  I learned about their recognition from this link:

    http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/accreditation_pg2.html#U.S.

Note: The U.S. Department of Education does not have the authority to accredit private or public elementary or secondary schools, and the Department does NOT recognize accrediting bodies for the accreditation of private or public elementary and secondary schools. However, the U.S. Department of Education does recognize accrediting bodies for the accreditation of institutions of higher (postsecondary) education. If an accrediting body which is recognized by the Department for higher education also accredits elementary and secondary schools, the Department's recognition applies ONLY to the agency's accreditation of postsecondary institutions.

It does not matter what high school you graduate from. What matters is what you do with your life after graduating from high school. Hope this helps you.

  2. Do Not waste your money on this school! I just received my diploma from there and tried getting into college with it, guess what? Rejected. They apparently lost their accreditation from SACS in Dec. 09 so anyone who graduated after Jan, 2010, their diplomas are worthless. I found out when I got rejected, It was really unprofessional of them to not notify their students of this. So now I am on my way to getting my GED.
