  1. Limestone is a neutralizer for acids.  Corroded limestone is not as the only way limestone chemically corrodes is to react with acid to form a calcium salt of the acid.  Thus, it has already reacted with acid and can do so no more.


  2. It is true.  Areas with limestone bedrock are more resistant to some of the effects of acid rain, especially the sterilization of lakes.
