  1. CENTRAL AMERICA... im costa rican i we get offended when people say north america, i kwno north american people are teach in school that there is a south and a north but for the rest is only one continent divided in three... also dont call yourselves americans iam american too....and so the rest of north, south and central!!!! and please dont say costa rica is an island coz that happen all the time also

    have some culture geez

  2. Neither!

Its in "Central America" - And that has to be "Official" since that is the official US Postal designation for it!

  3. central America of course

  4. Given only those two options, the correct answer is North America. However, people are taught differently in Latin America and view North and South America as one continent, known as "America". Central America in Latin America is seen as a region on its own, as is North and South, but none of them are seen as a continent on its own in Latin America.

  5. It is technically part of North America, although it is referred to as central America.

  6. Costa Rica is not in north or south America, CR is a Central American country.

    Look wikipedia 4 more info.

  7. It's in 'central America' which is technically a part of North America.

  8. why do you ask stupid questions?

  9. neither its in a part of land people call central america.

  10. The dividing "line" between North America and South America is the Panama Canal.

Costa Rica is north of the Panama Canal, therefore, it is in North America.  The area where Costa Rica is in, is also known as Central America only because it is convenient to describe its location in the "center" of the "America's."

THIS PARAGRAPH IS AN EDIT for all those of you that claim to have information or sources that Costa Rica is in Central America.  Of course those sources will state that because they are correct as far as the area or region is concerned, but Central America IS NOT A CONTINENT!!!  (It would be like saying Chicago is NOT in the United States because I have a source that says it is in Illinois!)  (And you don't write "North America" when you send a letter through the post office to an address in Chicago.)   The continent Costa Rica is in, is North America, and that was the question!

  11. Neither it's in Central America

  12. OK, I'm from Costa Rica so I can answer you with 100% certainty:  It is not in North America and it is not in South America, it is in Central America.

Central America is called an isthmus, meaning that it joins two major geographical areas (North and South America).

Now, I must mention that in Costa Rica, we learn that there is only one American continent, which includes North America, Central America, and South America.

I know that in the U.S. you learn that North America and South America are two different continents, so I don't know where you leave Central America!

As you can see, the answer is different depending on where you are and what you are taught!  Funny, huh?

I'd say that if you live in the U.S., you should find an elementary school geography book and see what it says about Central America.

But in Latin America, Costa Rica is in Central America.  Period.

  13. Central America

  14. north america - central america is in the north - check it out on google, or just loo at some other dude's Q in the costa rica section
