It is possible that he could face Ricardo Mayorga in July, but it is not a done deal yet.  As of right now, Bob Arum (Cotto's promoter) and Don King (Mayorga's promoter) are talking about making the fight.  As you said, as of right now, it is still only a rumor and not fact.  Cotto could also face the winner of Cintron/Margarito 2, which will be fought on the undercard of Cotto's fight with Alfonso Gomez.

I haven't seen or heard anything about this fight.  I bet it doesn't happen, he has no reason to fight him after the Gomez fight. I would expect him to fight Margarito next, especially if he beat Cintron.

there are a lot of rumors floating around and that is one of them... another one is him fighting margarito if margarito beats cintron... and cotto beats gomez they will fight in the stadium in new york... cotto, will have a great year...

According to boxrec, he is fighting Alfonso Gomez in April, and Mayorga  in July.

Boxrec sometimes doesn't give perfect info.
