  1. How can it be illegal to think in ur head? Thats what counting cards is.

  2. murder is illegal as is rape.

    card counting is not.

  3. No, it's not illegal. I do it all the time in Vegas, and it works. I just make sure not to win too much at any one casino. I don't want them kicking me out, making a scene, or at worst, giving me four kneecaps.

It's pretty basic. You don't even have to be an MIT nerd to do it. 10,J,Q,K,A is -1   2,3,4,5,6 is +1    7,8,9 is 0  ... So you just need to be able to count up and down by ones, but you gotta be quick. Then when the count becomes +10 or higher, it's time to press your bet and watch the 20s and BJs fly in front of you. I once counted to +16, raised my bet from $10 to $25 and hit a run of 8 straight hands divided into four blackjacks (3 consecutively) and four twenty's. It was sweet, but I noticed the pitboss watching me from the corner, so I lowered my bet again.. lol

  4. its not illegal but if a casino thinks u are counting cards they can kick u out....

  5. It is not illegal, however, no casino welcomes card counters or cheaters of any kind.  They will throw you out and tell other casinos they caught you counting.

  6. Card Counting is NOT illegal.  However, Vegas Casinos will throw you out and you will be put in a database if you are good at it and win a lot of money from them.

This is the difference between cheating and card counting:

If you get caught card counting, you will be told to cash out and leave.  If you get caught cheating (which is a felony in Nevada) you will be arrested and leave the Casino in handcuffs.

  7. Card counting is not illegal. However, it is frowned upon by those who catch you do it because they feel like you are cheating the system. If you get caught by a casino, plan on facing some major issues, and if you're lucky, you may just get thrown out. In my mind, counting cards is still a skill, and if you can do it, more power to you.

  8. Card counting is not illegal.  Card counting relies on knowing if there are more ten value cards in the shoe than low value cards.  When there are more ten value cards in the shoe, the advantage shifts to the player.  A card counter must increase his bet when the odds are in his favor.  Casino pit bosses will count along with suspected card counters.  If they see a player changing his bet with the count, they will identify the player as a counter.  The casino can react in several ways. Most likely they will simply instruct the dealer to shuffle more often, thus reseting the count and putting the odds back in their favor.  They can also refuse to allow the counter to play.

To combat this, a card counter must wager carefully.

It assists with the multiple card counting systems. It keeps the count for you, which you can show or hide. That way you show the computers count only when you want to double check your own count. Plus, it tracks each card played as well.

It assists you with basic multi-deck strategy, instructing you how to play against the dealers upcard. The strategy matrix can be shown or hidden.

  9. I am  card counter and I have been barred from some casinos.

Here in my home town I am not barred from the casino and I have played here for 35 years and am known by the casino staff to be a card counter and for some years made my living by card counting. So, why didn't they bar me? It's simple. The gaming law here says that a player cannot be barred for winning and cannot be barred for any playing skill. If I were cheating I would get barred, and I have known of one or two players who have been kicked out for cheating. And that is a good thing.

Before this casino was built the casino people made the point that players could learn to win at BJ and they would welcome card counters and not bar any. And they don't. So how do they stop card counters winning? Simple! They enforce restrictions that limit one's bets. If I bet now, I am restricted to the minimum bet on one box only and that's it, I can never change from one box nor raise my bet. I'm not barred but in effect it's the same thing, I no longer go to the casino.

But if you go to the casino you can bet as much as you like and change it up or down and bet all seven boxes if you want to. You have complete freedom. No restrictions apply.

  10. Unaided card counting is not illegal (unaided means without any mechanical device).  However, as has been stated, casinos are private property and if you are obviously card counting (varrying bets drastically is the biggest no-no) you might be asked to leave and be barred from that casino.  This will typically follow you from casino to casino (as the saying goes "if you make the book") .  With all that being said, you would more than likely be safe doing it at very low limits (5 or 10 dollar bets)  just don't attempt it at the higher limits.

  11. No it is not illegal... But that doesn't mean they have to put up with it... As a private establishment, they can throw you out and ban you if you do it...

  12. counting cards isn't illegal.

However, casino's don't like people beating there games so they'll black ball you, and black list you so if they catch you, you will never be able to enter another casino.

What the MIT card counting team did was basically figure out a way to count cards without the casino's figuring out they were counting.

The reason most people get caught is because when the count is in the players favor, you have to place large bets to take advantage of the varience that is in the players favor.

The casino's monitor the bets and figure it out when someone is betting small, the all of a sudden starts placing max best and is winning.

So what the team would do was place people at a lot of tables, bet the minimum and count cards.  Then when the count was in the players favor they would signal a high limit player to come in and place the max bets at the table, then leave.

To the casino it looked like a player just sat down and played a few hands, and bet the same amount on each hand.

  13. no it isnt illegal, getting caught in a big casino is illegal though

if you are caught doing it expect some jailtime

  14. It is really not illegal but requires real skill.

the biggest part of the skill is hidhing your ability to count cards as although it's not illegal casinos are notoriously known for removing card counters from their premises most often with a life time ban in place for the card counter.

  15. I don't even understand what "counting cards" means.
