  1. only if they are local and you can see and drive

  2. Be very careful on craigslist!!! Here is a list that you should keep next to your computer

    1. Any car that you are interested in, make sure that the car is in your city and that you and your mechanic can come out and see car.

    2. Anything overseas or in a remote part of our great country, please avoid.

    3. Avoid all "once in a lifetime" deals.

    4. Make sure owner of car is willing to give you VIN # of vehicle.

    5. Never get your hopes up about a picture or pictures that you see of a car, as you will be disappointed a lot of times once you see that same car in person.

    6. To avoid wasting your time, make sure you can get as much info as possible from seller, before even taking an hour or two of your day only to find out the check engine light is on, etc.

    7. Never front any money

  3. Just watch out for the scam, if it is true good to be true, maybe it is.  Do a research before buying anything.  Good luck.

  4. I have to say it. Craigslist is just a little more reliable than ebay. You can get lucky or you can get scammed. Just research the car and always check the blue book value on it. Here are a couple tips if buying from craigslist or ebay:

    1) Research the car and see if there are any recalls or faulty items on the car.

    2) Read everything the site has to say and at least get pictures to see what it looks like.

    3) Get your mechanic to inspect it and even take it for a test drive.

    4) You know the rest, just remember everything here and like the guy above said, if the price looks too good to be true, it probably is(watch out for crashed or totaled cars that are put back together and painted).

These are always safe steps on craigslist.

    Good luck.

  5. It is the same as buying out of the clasifieds.  You need to do your homework so you don't get ripped off or stuck with a crumby car.
